Camp Christmas! It’s a tradition we started three years ago, which was the year we opened our camp at Horseshoe Hills. We put up our camp Christmas tree on the evening before the first day of the deer firearms season opener and then return the weekend before Christmas to exchange a gift, or maybe two. There’s just something about a tiny cabin in the woods, a Christmas tree, holiday music, and the smell and sound of a fire that brings out the spirit of the season.

This year we were blessed with a perfect day for our excursion. There was a nice blanket of snow on the ground but the temperature was around 40º making it perfect for a walk in the woods. Will enjoyed playing on the frozen puddles and making snowballs while Angela took pictures of the pretty scenery and I swapped a couple trail camera memory cards. After our walk we exchanged gifts, had a snack, and just enjoyed each other’s company for a few hours. What a wonderful way to kick off the Christmas season. Here is a photo gallery from our afternoon.
