As annoying as the daily torrential rains have been, the added benefit has been an unusually extended trout season. This is especially true on the freestone streams in the area, which typically only have deep and cold enough water to fish through the latter part of May. This year has been one for the record books and despite my best effort, I can think of a year quite like it. I would venture a guess that I never caught a trout on Little Mahoning as late as June 22 before.
